This blog was originally intended to serve as motivation for me to gain lean muscle mass before my wedding in August 2011. As it is now past that date and I am indeed married, this blog is intended to keep me motivated with my health and fitness goals which are: Lower body fat %, by running, eating, and lifting, and preparing my body for the coming snowboard season. I am still on my Somanabolic Muscle Maximizer nutrition plan (it's definitely not a "diet". As of October 2, I weigh approx. 200 lbs which is a decent weight at 6'3" but I want to be leaner. I will update with pictures once a month. I suck at posting regularly so bear with me.

Guess who two ladies went for their first run of the season!  (And one of those ladies found a nice, stinky pond to swim in as well.  Guess which one.)
But I actually went for a run guys!  It felt great;  in all honesty it was a walk/run/walk/run sort of deal but I knew that I’d be starting out nice and easy this spring to not injure myself or baby.
Sky ran really well too for her first time.  Well, she walked fast as I tried to run, haha (show off).  We get back after almost 4kms and she looks at me like “that’s it?  You’re tired already?”

My puppy is growing up! She’s so sweet.

Tumblr

It’s weird, but I forgot how supportive and inspirational Tumblr can be. I’ve been away for so long and for the first time in almost a year I found myself scrolling through images of healthy individuals again! It made me want to go out and get my life back!

That’s all.

10 months ago I went to emergency for the THIRD time and was operated on. I had a perianal abscess. It was hell, but nothing could have prepared me for the constant pain, life changing consequences of this problem.

I have not had the ability or the will to live a healthy life. I can’t explain how frustrating it was. I turned to food for comfort. I ate like shit. I drank a lot. I got ZERO exercise.

I’ve had three operations since last June and I have one or two left.

I’m getting to a place where I can consider getting active again. Of course I still have pain, but it’s manageable.

This is going to be difficult, but I know I can do it with the help of my family and friends.

I’m back again. I will update with my terrible now pictures soon to show you where I am. I’m around 205 lbs and probably 20% body fat! YAY!!!

Do I even have people who look at my blog??? If yes, thanks!!

After my 6 week strong to the cor challenge. One week in I was the unlucky winner of an abscess in a delicate region. For the next 5 weeks I would suffer through the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. No gym, no exercise, barely even walking. No work for 3 of those weeks. I’ve had to put a hold on my gym membership which reeeeally blows. Not sure when I can get back to the gym. Found out 2 days ago that I’m gonna have to have another surgery in 2 months. Awesome! I just want to fucking go to the gym! Scratch that I just want to have normal problems, not this shit.
End rant.
So over this 5 week period I’ve eaten shitty but lost weight. Unfortunately some of that weight was muscle… Aww well. The future is mine.

Too awesome not to have it on the blog.

shortmom:

Inspiring video of one of our trainers who helps push me to be a better person.

"Lindy Wall broke her back in 2011. Doctors told her she would never squat again. Her determination is an inspiration to all of us, to push hard for our goals and not let anything get in the way of it! Lindy will be competing in the 2013 Crossfit Games."

————————-

"I am absolutely stronger than this injury. Just because it is something that I will have to deal with in my everyday life, it does not mean it is something that will effect how I will live my life every single day. So please don’t give up. Find your goals, set your sights on those goals and don’t allow that injury to define who you are or who you can be in your life." — Lindy Wall

If only more people were as goal oriented, driven and determined instead of giving up!

Words to live by right here. I’m not going to let my injury define me. It will not change my goals of becoming fit and healthy. I made those goals and I’m going to achieve them.

Recovery

It’s been almost 3 weeks since the last time I was able to go to the gym or do anything physical. It has been the most hellish 3 weeks of my life. I’m starting to recover but can’t even think about getting back to the gym or even going for a run for I’d say another 2 weeks. Because of the type of surgery I had the wound is a gaping hole that must heal from the inside out. The gym would make me feel SO MUCH better, but terrible at the same time.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I miss exercise. I miss it so much it hurts. The only thing that has been a bonus since my operation is that I’ve lost a lot of the fat around my midsection due to lack of appetite and medication. I know it’s not healthy but it’s something. When I get back to the gym I’m going to be starting at around 185 lbs I think. That’s a pretty lean starting point for me.

Anyway, I hope you are all healthy and never have a problem like this. It’s shitty!

The Quads!!! HOLY!!

So What Happened to You?!?! (Graphic and TMI)

Hey all,

So three or four weeks ago I started a 6-week challenge on bodybuilding.com. I was stoked to start it because I had just started a new job (which rocks) and had let my gym schedule and nutrition suffer. So this was an awesome way to motivate me to get back on track and I was, until I developed an anal abscess.

I didn’t know what it was at first. I just had a pain in the butt! Went to my doctor twice, and emergency 3 times before they took me into an emergency operating room and cut me open and drained the abscess. Normally, this kind of thing would be sewn up and I would be put on a course of antibiotics, but because of the abscess’ proximity to my out hole and it’s depth they leave it open and it has to heal naturally from the inside out. That means lots and lots of sitz baths, oxycodone and lying down. I’ve had to take the next 2 weeks off of work which is brutal because I’m still in my 3 month probationary period. But worst of all I’m losing weight! I’m getting skinny. I’ve had to change my diet to mainly protein and veg/fruits which is awesome, but I can’t exercise so I’m shedding fat but I’m also burning muscle. It seriously sucks. Oh and here’s the best part: I haven’t had a BM in almost 6 days! It hurts too much!

Needless to say the 6 week challenge has been sidelined and now all I’m focusing on is getting better.

Believe it or not I’ve spared you from some of the more gruesome details. If you’ve read this post, I apologize.

I need to buy a couple books to keep my brain thinking about something other than my tax pain. Any suggestions?
